2017 NAMM Fender Custom Shop Ltd Edition ‘51 Nocaster Relic - 30th Anniversary w/ OHSC, COA & Candy - Mint Condition
This guitar is part of the very first run of the highly sought-after LTD NAMM ’51 Nocaster 30th Anniversary model, originally released in 2017 to celebrate 30 years of the Fender Custom Shop. Owing to its popularity, Fender reissued it in 2019 as one of the “Top 20” guitars displayed at NAMM, where the Custom Shop recreated twenty of their most iconic models.
This particular instrument comes from the original 2017 series, predating the 2019 “Top 20” reissues. The rear headstock decal reads “1987–2017, 30th Anniversary”, while the certificate of authenticity lists its production date as July 10th, 2017.
True to its heritage, the guitar is a stunning yet traditional ’51 Nocaster. It features lightweight ash body, a chunky quartersawn maple neck, and a hand-wound Custom Shop Texas Special in the neck with hand-wound Custom Shop ‘51 Nocaster bridge pickup. The balance of the neck pickup and bridge pickup allows brilliant shimmery top end in the neck position that cuts through any mix and almost P-90-like midrange in the bridge position, offering a fatness and fullness not heard in all (or many) Telecasters.
Modern appointments include a slightly flatter 9.5″ fretboard radius & 6105 frets (tall / thin jumbo) for easier bends as well as contemporary Telecaster wiring with a Greasebucket (treble bleed) tone circuit for maximum tonal variety. Additional appointments such as flathead screws, Nocaster knobs, lacquered black bakelite pickguard, lightly reliced body and neck (semi glossy on neck just like a real one) and an immaculately “Journeyman” aged faded Nocaster blonde finish with fantastic checking in abundance.
