1968 Gibson B-15 - Mahogany Body (LG-0) w/ Rosewood ADJ Bridge (1.79 kg)

1968 Gibson B-15 - Mahogany Body (LG-0) w/ Rosewood ADJ Bridge (1.79 kg)

Gorgeous & charming, all original 1968 Gibson B-15 (early LG-0 spec) featuring a full mahogany body, mahogany neck with narrow nut and Brazillian rosewood fingerboard.

Essentially Gibson’s answer to the wonderful entry-level Epiphone Caballero, this first year edition of the Gibson B-15 features an all Honduran mahogany construction prior to the following year which featured spruce tops which typically suffered overly bright overtones & a lack of bottom end. These 1967's also feature Brazilian rosewood fingerboards (this one featuring a wonderfully dark and figured grain).

Constructed with ladder bracing and a solid top, these Gibson’s are a fingerpicking songwriters best friend — not overwhelmingly loud, however projects that wonderful midrange perfectly and would make an excellent blues box for any player of any level.

This 24.75” scale & smaller body shape Gibson from the golden era of songwriting features all the makings of the original Gibson LG-0 just without tortoiseshell binding and with the addition of a very sleek Gibson Melody Maker headstock, golden silkscreen decal & open geared, white-button tuners.

Loaded with the original adjustable rosewood bridge & rosewood saddle, the neck set is absolutely perfect on this one & playing fantastically well with a very low action. Frets are showing barely any wear for its age and the satin nitrocellulose (these were actually the first Gibson model ever to feature a satin finish) is checking wonderfully. Truss rod function has plenty of room either way & no signs of bridge lift or previous repairs.

One of the coolest old Gibsons money can buy, and for only a fraction of the cost of most others. A true bargain-hunters delight.

Made in Kalamazoo, MI (USA).

Currently strung with 12-53 Elixir strings & sounding fantastic.
